The Premature Burial

I miss England.

Remember that true leaders always rely on the ignorance of the masses to rise to the top.

Moved a lot, then? Parents’ jobs and all that? Must have been vexing, not being able to stay in the same home and school for more than a few weeks. Not much of a chance to make friends.

Ah, they didn’t? Anyway, I was born in Boston. That’s where their father’s job was at the time. Moved to California when I was a teenager, but I didn’t get to spend much time at home because I was kicked out soon after. -He shrugs casually, as if he weren’t bothered by that notion at all.-

*Sam shrugs briefly.*  Yeah, but that still requires relying on something, doesn’t it?  Even if it’s just for those growing masses to remain ignorant.  Ignorance just isn’t that blissful.  *He believes that.  A pause, and a rueful smile.*  I’ll have to be something else entirely, I guess.

And yeah.  It was frustrating.  I guess I appreciate it more now.  *His smile belies his words, though.  Bitterness doesn’t die easily.*

*He just shakes his head, then listens closely.  He doesn’t react outwardly to the ‘their father’, but hearing about Lucifer being kicked out makes him wince.*  Getting kicked out sucks.  *He says it with absolute certainty, then clears his throat and points out a building a couple of blocks away.*  Not too far now.

Indeed it seems that you always have to rely on something to achieve anything. Some rely on their skill, some on knowledge, some on persuasion, and many other things. But luck and chance always play an important part.
You don’t have to change completely. I guess you will grow to be different in some respects, but not others.

-Lucifer picks up on Sam’s concealed bitterness; after all he isn’t a stranger to the very notion, and he is fairly skilled on reading beyond the initial meaning of words.-
I’ve come to appreciate the opportunities that arise when you don’t have a home, so to speak. And now, I dislike routine and being trapped in the same location for an indefinite amount of time.

…heh, it does. So when were you kicked out? -He asks bluntly, not even considering asking if he’d been at odds with his father; it takes one to know one, after all.-

|| Replied to some. People I still owe are tagged.

If you replied or I left you out, let me know in some way.

I miss England.

*Yeah, he wonders about that ‘very lowest’, but he’ll just keep wondering for now.*  Dodgy organ transaction *he shrugs, amused* …or a good deal.

Okay, cool.  We can get to know each other better.  *He smiles and starts walking, looking over at Lucifer.*  Ask me absolutely anything.  *A good starting point, surely.*

A great deal. Knowledge is power, and that has never been truer.

-Lucifer’s lips twist into a crooked smirk, frosty eyes looking over Sam without discretion.-  Let’s start from the basics. Where are you from, Sam?

It is power.  *Sam laughs a bit.*  I like to be as knowledgeable as I can possibly be.

*He does catch that smirk, but it only makes his smile shift into a grin.*  Okay, basics.  *He claps his hands together once before shoving them into his pockets.*  I’m from Lawrence, Kansas, originally.  We left when I was a baby, and I don’t think I’ve been in any one place longer than a few weeks until I got to college.

What about you?  Gabriel and Cas haven’t really mentioned a lot about where you’re all from.

I felt like that when I first got here, though I’m sure it’s a lot more extreme for you.

Anyway, I can’t do much for the atmosphere here, but I can definitely provide the other three.

England has welcomed me when I was at my very lowest, and has given me food and shelter in exchange for my brain. Kinda sounds like a dodgy organ transaction.

Can’t ask for a rainy grey sky, but this’ll do. I’m all yours then. Lead the way.

I’m sorry to hear that.  It sucks to be away from the familiar.

We could go grab some lunch today, if you want?  Something …English?  I have no idea what that entails, besides fish and chips, but I could always google it.

This used to be my “familiar”. But now I feel like a stranger in a strange land.
Unfortunately they don’t really cater for lovers of traditional English cuisine over here, as far as I know. But fish and chips, a pint of beer and good company is definitely what I need.
